Because of your generosity, UJA Federation serves over 100,000 Jewish people in 90 communities in Bergen and Passaic Counties, and parts of Hudson County.
In addition, through our overseas partners, The Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, UJA NNJ assists Jews in Israel and in Jewish communities throughout the world, including:

  • social services that assist 1.6 million Israelis living below the poverty line, including 350,000 Israeli children and teens at risk
  • nutrition, medical and visitation programs that enhance the quality of life of 160,000 elderly Israelis
  • social welfare services for at-risk populations including 17,500 impoverished Argentinean Jews, 220,000 needy elderly Jews and 22,000 children at risk in the former Soviet Union.

At UJA Federation, we are proud of our record of innovation and achievement in the northern New Jersey community and beyond. For more information on the impact of support for the Annual Campaign on programs in northern New Jersey, in Israel and in 60 countries around the world, please click here to see our 2008 Year in Review.

And, if you want to get actively involved in Jewish life and in the Jewish community, there’s a place for you at UJA NNJ, including educational, networking, and hands-on volunteer opportunities. You can volunteer to be a Reading Buddy with our Bergen Reads program, work on building projects for low income families with Bonim Builders, or be an advocate for Israel with the Jewish Community Relations Council. Women of all ages are welcome in the Women’s Division, and business people can join the Commerce & Professional division. UJA NNJ’s Physicians and Dentists Division provides ways to meet professional colleagues and enjoy special events.

UJA NNJ’s volunteer initiatives are rewarding and interesting. What’s more, you will get the satisfaction of knowing you’re part of a vibrant community working to meet urgent human needs or just make the world a better place.
