2008 Annual Meeting

It was a night filled with fond laughter, hilarious spoofs, and touching tributes, a night to say farewell … but not goodbye … to Dan Silna, UJA NNJ’s leader and president these last three years. It was also a time for UJA NNJ to honor the memory of past community leaders who left us during the last 18 months: Herb Gallen, Zelda Levere, Chuck Rothschild, and Lenny Rubin. We recognized outgoing trustees and welcomed new officers, including UJA NNJ’s new president, Alan Scharfstein. Dana Post Adler and Dan Shlufman received the Russell Berrie Young Leadership Award, and Susan Penn received the Marge Bornstein Award for Outstanding Volunteerism. The audience applauded over and over during the sometimes comical, sometimes serious, but always entertaining slide show prepared especially for Danny … a fitting ending to a great evening and a great presidency.
